C-R Students Earn Top Honors at Regional Youth Art Exhibition

Two students from Cobleskill-Richmondville High School were recognized for their outstanding artistic achievements at the 6th Annual Youth at Art! Regional Youth Art Contest, held at the Fenimore Art Museum.
Sophomores Rebecca Hanes and Elizabeth Zurek each earned First Place Honors in their respective categories within the Senior Division (Grades 9–12). Rebecca Hanes was awarded first place in Painting for her piece, “Freshly Baked Cookies,” while Elizabeth Zurek earned first place in 3D Art for her sculpture, “Sycamore Home.”
This year’s exhibition centered around the theme “Home,” inviting students to create artwork that reflects their interpretation of the concept. In addition to their visual pieces, students submitted artist statements explaining how their work connects to the theme.
The competition drew more than 400 entries from 40 schools across seven counties. Of those submissions, only 73 artworks were selected for exhibition, making this recognition especially notable.
The selected works are currently on display in the museum’s Scriven Gallery through May 10.
Cobleskill-Richmondville Central School District congratulates Rebecca Hanes and Elizabeth Zurek on this impressive accomplishment and celebrates their creativity, dedication, and artistic talent.
